Training

Located in San Luis Obispo, California, Blair Engineering is an engineering company specializing in aftermarket turboexpander repair, service and support. Experienced with all brands of turboexpanders, Blair Engineering offers onsite training of your operations, maintenance and engineering staff.

At Blair Engineering, we believe that training is an important part of equipment reliability. We offer onsite training courses that are tailored to your specific site operations. Unlike OEM training courses, the Blair Engineering turboexpander training covers specific differences between the brands of machine that your company operates. Training can be tailored for engineering, maintenance, or operations staff as required.

Typical training courses cover the machine configuration and design for process (including surge, guide vane, and thrust systems), support system design and operation, controls overview, lube and seal system design and operation, typical maintenance, pressurization, and machine operation with an emphasis on proper start-up and shutdown.

Turboexpanders are process driven devices, and as such many problems can be attributed to process issues. Blair Engineering’s training course covers common process upsets and their relation to turboexpander operation. This leaves trainees with a greater understanding of overall plant operation.

Ideal training class size is 10-20 people per session; each session is typically one full day. It is recommended to have the training at a site with a turboexpander so that the class can include a skid piping and process walk down after the classroom session.
